"When I was young, my father would take me to another village which was two hours walk up the hill. I would sit by my father's side and watch the villagers while they talked. I felt these people were different. Different from the people in my village. They spoke a different language and sang different songs. At times it felt strange. At night, I would wonder who these people were. One day on our way back from the village, I asked my father who these people were and why they were different. I remember he said, 'They are farmers just like your father. You need to be able to see the similarities son, not the differences.' I didn't know what he meant by it then, but I surely do remember enjoying their songs. (Gore Newar Dai, Thapa Gaun, Sindhupalchowk)
