Across Nepal, there are stories that rarely find their way into newspapers, television screens, or history books. They live in villages tucked beneath mountains, beside rivers, in crowded cities, and within families whose lives quietly shape our nation every day.
Some stories are joyful. Others are difficult. Many have never been told.
At Stories of Nepal, we believe that listening is an act of respect. Every story shared with us becomes part of a growing collective memory of Nepal—its people, cultures, struggles, hopes, and dreams.
If you know someone whose story deserves to be heard—or if you wish to share your own—we invite you to reach out.
You do not have to be a writer, photographer, or filmmaker.
You simply need a story.
What stories are we looking for?
We welcome stories from every corner of Nepal and from Nepalis around the world. These may include:
- Everyday lives and extraordinary journeys
- Rural communities and indigenous knowledge
- Climate change and environmental challenges
- Women leading change in their communities
- Migration and families left behind
- Childhood, education, and aspirations
- Arts, culture, traditions, and disappearing practices
- Agriculture, livelihoods, and local economies
- Conflict, memory, healing, and reconciliation
- Disability and inclusion
- Public health and mental wellbeing
- Community initiatives and acts of kindness
- Stories of hope, courage, perseverance, and social change
If your story does not fit neatly into one of these themes, don’t worry.
If it matters to you, it matters to us.
How can you contribute?
There are many ways to share a story. You may send us:
- A written story
- Photographs
- A short video
- Audio recordings
- A story idea
- Historical photographs or family archives
- Documents that help preserve an important memory
Even if you only have an idea, our team may be able to help document it.
