"Today, I work as a marketing person for a finance company, convincing people to open accounts. I have passed my SLC last year. Father drives a cab but due to his drinking he has become very weak and most of the times he is unable to work. I see him in misery. I used to get very angry at him that my mother left me with and alcoholic father. But I have seen him drinking for as long as I remember. I have seen him try to quit. It would last for a few weeks but soon he would come home drunk. Even today I see him struggle to raise me. People might see him as a bad person, an untrustworthy drunk. But for me he is my father. I have seen him making sacrifices for me. He put me in one of the best schools in Lalitpur and somehow raised me with very limited resources. There is no one for us. No relationships with my relatives. I don’t know where my mother and sister are. But I carry an ambition to show my mother that even without her I have made it. I am out to become someone important and make my father proud." ((Ashish Shrestha, Saugal, Patan, Lalitpur)
