“I told him not to go to the protests but he wouldn’t listen. He would say, 'Look Budi, if I don’t go and fight for our rights who will?' That day, after lunch, he left without telling me anything. I got a call from the hospital that he had been shot. I ran to see him but they wouldn’t let me enter. I cried to them and told them that my husband had been shot and finally, they let me go inside. The nurse there lifted the cover from his body and I saw him but half his head was missing and the other half was covered in blood. I fainted. That is the last I remember of my him. But I feel like he will come back. I hear him call out my name, “Binita, Binita. Can you give me water? I am thirsty. Can you give me food? I am hungry.
