"The village committee said my house was built in a community forest and it had to be demolished. We have lived there for many generations so naturally, I got furious and told them anyone who comes near my house or talks about demolishing it, I will cut them like radishes. So they reported me to the police. I was let go with a warning and 300 rupees in fine. But look at my destiny, what they could not take away, this earthquake did. Somehow I managed to built a tin shelter and that is where my family is. And like the problems were not enough, I started having problems of the stomach, hurting in odd times so I collected whatever money I had and came to Kathmandu. And like the old say that everything happens at once to the poor, I am stuck here in Kathmandu as the buses have stopped running due to fuel shortage. The true 'Andolan' is taking place in my heart right now." (Ram Ji Dai, From Okhaldhunga. Met him in Chabahil, Kathmandu)
