I handed over the collected money to Duth Kumari Baini and stepped outside in the sun to join her father for tea. I remembered I had forgotten my camera and ducked in to collect it. This was when I witnessed this very touching moment of love and hope between mother and daughter – both hugging each other with what I felt as renewed hope. Though the money collected is only some relief we could provide but it definitely goes to show how collectively we have the power to bring small changes for the ones who are less privileged. I also explained how good people from all around the world came together to offer help after reading her story. Before I left, I joined the family again for some farewell tea and corn and that was when Duth Kumari Baini asked, “Dai, do you think it is possible to say thank you to all the people who helped me with the money?” I smiled and gladly said, “Of course, as soon as I have internet.” (Barpak, Gorkha)
