“Sometimes we wake up at dawn and talk about life while he sleeps by our side. His father tells me how he had always been a good student in school, always passing with good grades. He tells me that he was well regarded by his teachers and classmates and how he had wanted study science and become a doctor but had to leave school due to financial difficulties at home. The day he left for Saudi Arabia he held our son in his lap all morning and was walking around the house child-talking with him. Sometimes I would hear him say, ‘Chora, you have to become a doctor and make us proud. And when you do, don’t forget your parents who love you so much’. And sometimes I would hear him say, ‘I don’t want to leave you and your mother but I have to go and make money for all of us’.”
