“Everyone looks at me and their faces light up. They see me smile and they immediately come to talk to me. I think father also understood that I was special and that I had a unique quality in me. He was a rice trader and from the age of 7, he let me take care of his shop. He would leave me for hours in the shop and I would do all the business. I would smile at my customers, weigh them their rice and properly count the money they gave me. Some would give me sweets and some would give me change. They would tell me that my smile made them happy and that I brought good luck. I think it is this quality that led me to chose business and trade over agriculture. I did help out my sisters at home but I loved being a merchant. Today, I source goods from different cities and bring them to these Haatbazaars. And I make a profit all because of my smile. I am not making any of this up, the sun and time are here to judge me if I am. It is because I smiled at you that you came to talk to me, right?”
