Jite Badi Lamki Chuha 3, Kailali
“They ran out of needles for the injection, I think. So my wife who had broken her back some time ago just deals with the pain. Now she does not even complain. But I see her eyes, Babu. I see the hurt she carries having 7 sons but not much support. You see 4 of them are married and live their own lives. The other three are in India. It feels like I am complaining too much about you, Babu. But old people complain. It is not that I am asking anything from you. I am just asking that people treat me with respect and people talk to me using good and fair words. That is all I ask. Come sit close, pull this bed so I can see you more clearly. You must have some water, Babu.
Now, let me tell you my age. I am 60 and yet to receive my allowance. I live only with what the country gives me. Nepal is my mother and Nepal is my father. The country came me some zinc sheets for my workshop. The organisation came me some iron pipes to melt and a fire-making machine. I go to my workshop and use that space to mould metal into axes, sickles, knives and other farming tools. I live a life that is given to me. And sometimes when someone sits down to listen, I complain.
That is all I do, Babu. God bless you. And please visit before I am no more.”
