“The little hut near the Dhanus Sagar pond is my home. It is not what you call a house, just a little place to take shelter. My husband has long gone from this earth. It was my eldest son’s untimely demise that tore my heart. My youngest son chose to live with his wife and I did not disagree. Today, I take care of my eldest son’s children. I manage. My grandchildren and their widow mother is the only family I have. I used to work as a maid in other people’s houses but now that has stopped. Everyone is afraid. So I am managing somehow. I do not know what are god’s plans. Sometimes it is the earthquake, sometimes it is the protests and now this. There are problems everywhere you look, especially for women like us.”
