“After I completed my SLC, I pursued my education in Nursing. I went back to my village as a staff nurse to work at the health posts. At one point I was covering many villages as many as 6 out of the 11 VDCs. The phone network is only available from one village and the others are cut of from any communication to the outside world. The only hospital is 7 days walk from the area. And if someone outside of where I was got sick, that easily meant a day to reach them, sometimes by foot and sometimes on the horse. Word would travel that someone was sick at a certain village but I wouldn’t know the details, so I had to carry all the medicines on my back just in case. And since there was not a doctor, I didn’t have any guidance. And I was just a nurse and the cure is really not up to me but I knew it was my responsibility to do everything I could after all it was home.” (3/3) (Pema Dolma Lama, Saldang, Dolpa)
