“I did well in school and so I was selected to study in Kathmandu through a German sponsor. When I started grade 5 in Kathmandu in 2003, the major challenge for me was the language. Everyone spoke in English in my new school. I only knew the Dolpali language and I could only read a bit of english. When my english teacher recited poems, I would be lost, it would really be difficult for me to understand what it meant. I remember I had to submit an assignment for my english class and the pen I had bought wouldn’t write well. And I was not understanding the assignment. Late at night, as I struggled to answer the questions, the bad pen nib would tear the pages of my notebook.” (2/3) (Pema Dolma Lama, Saldang, Dolpa)
