“Every morning I come here with my Tanga and wait for customers. But there are many Tangas and getting a passenger can be difficult at times. Sometimes they come, sometimes I have to wait. Sometimes they are families and sometimes just boys and girls. If the horse is well fed then I can earn more, if not I can only take passengers few times a week.”
Do you manage to save any money?
“Only a little. My parents are just simple farmers. If there is harvest, we eat what we grow. If not, we need to buy food. I am the only one to bring money home. It has been four years. My biggest concern is saving enough so that my sisters can get married in a good family. And in these four years, I have learnt that when you are the only person in the family who is making money, money will never be enough.”
