“He was ok. But he was wrongly accused of a crime he did not commit. He was publicly humiliated. Slowly his behavior changed and he started to talk to himself and would be lost in his own world. But one day, he jumped off the bridge into the river. They identified the culprit of the crime he was wrongly accused of eventually but I had lost my husband. There was that undying sorrow of losing my husband and the worry of raising two girls on my own. But I never talked about my struggles with them. I made sure they got a good education and went on to become independent women. Recently, my daughter received top marks in SLC in the district. I am really happy and I feel like my hurt will slowly heal now.” (Ishwory Thapa, Thapagaun, Ghumthang 7, Sindhupalchok)
