“We have spent the last 27 years, both in love and in sorrow, together. Our relation is not so weak for us to part our ways in the smallest of quarrels. How will I leave her? Where will she go? Sometimes she does not like how I take care of the shop so she tells me straight. I am a man and I do not like to listen to a woman’s complaints but I keep quiet. After all, she only tells me to keep the shop clean. I try, but I am busy cooking and attending to the guests and I overlook these things that bother her. The bottles, the soiled glasses, and the cigarette butts. But sometimes she does not say a word. She just comes, brooms the place clean and without a word heads home. Those times, I keep quiet too.”
